Across the country more boys than girls study STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects.

Last half-term a number of our girls were invited to attend a day by Barclays Technology Centre in Knutsford to inspire them to consider the opportunities that are available if they wanted to follow a career in IT or computing.

During the day the girls took part in a wide range of activities including learning how to program, programming cars to run on a race track, hearing a talk from a doctor of Astrophysics about how computers are used to monitor the planets and taking part in a seminar on Data Security.  There was also a competition to design a product of the future and congratulations go to student Kya, who was in the top 6 out of 180 entrants!

The girls impressed the coordinator of the event at Barclays Bank that they were selected to meet the Head of Barclaycard and have a tour around the Operations Room.
