The group of 80 were given a demonstration of flight and feeding in the sports hall and were able to feed the hawks while learning all about the birds of prey.

The students were chosen to be part of the event by pastoral staff as recognition for their achievements across the school.

One student said: “It was wonderful to see the display and be able to feed the hawks.”

Teaching Assistant Lynne Chong said: “It was a truly brilliant experience and the students all loved it. It was amazing to see such beautiful birds so close and the control the bird handler had over his Harris Hawk was impressive.”
