The event is part of a national campaign, run by Sports England as a way of tackling the increase in young women disengaging in PE, sport and activity.

Eighty young women went along to West Kirby Concourse where they were given the chance to try out some alternative activities including Zumba, Revolutions Spinning, Yoga, Pilates and a Boot Camp.

The final session of the day was an action planning workshop where the girls explored issues for young women in sport and activity.

The day was a great success with all girls participating in all activities and lots of displays of ‘Girl Power’.

Subject Lead for PE, Miss Ponton said: “All our girls did really well and had a fantastic day. One of them won a month’s free pass for the teen invigor8 scheme which includes gym use, classes and the swimming pool and was really pleased. I think the event was a great way to inspire young women to embrace sport and activity.”
