Charity cake sales for Claire House
19 April 2016
As part of their Pixl Edge project, which is about developing character, the students had to organise an event and decided they wanted to make it a fundraising venture.
They chose to raise the money for Claire House as a local charity that helps care for children who will not survive into adulthood and support their families.
Halle from Year 8 said: “My little brother went to Claire House for treatment before he died so it is a charity that is very close to my heart and needs our support. I am glad we have been able to do our bit to help them carry on the brilliant work they do.”
The Wirral Community Fundraiser for Claire House, Avril Parr, came down for the first event, along with a special guest appearance from ‘Claire Bear’. Avril said: “It is amazing that the children are all supporting their local children’s hospice as without their support we could not do the vital work we do at Claire House.”
All the students baked the cakes and biscuits themselves in Food Technology and held a total of three cakes sales over a two week period.
