Students benefit from ‘Unlocking Potential’ Programme
18 May 2016
The ‘Unlocking Potential’ programme for 14-17 year olds looks at a number of areas including mental toughness, how to manage stress and how to live a healthier lifestyle.
A group of Year 10 students have recently completed the healthy lifestyle sessions which saw them identify the sugar content of various items and the impact sugar can have. The group tasted different types of food before being shown how they can make informed alternative choices in the future. They tried making some of the healthier options too.
Ann Fabb is one of the trainers from Career Connect, she said: “The aim of the programme is to focus students on their future, helping them to understand more about the options available to them when they leave school, and how making good choices now can pave the way for future success. The course gives young people valuable information about the skills they will need to secure employment and they will receive support to ensure they make a successful transition into Post 16 learning or work.“
