Students help judge book award winner
14 March 2016
Eleven students from BPS went to Wirral Grammar School for Girls to hear from eight of the 15 shortlisted authors who talked about their books and writing careers.
The students then got the opportunity to meet the authors and get their books signed
Kimberley from Year 8 said: “I really liked it when the writers read from their books and told us about what they liked to read when they were at school. I’d love to go again next year.”
The schools will now choose their three favourite books from the shortlist which will be announced on 4 May before the final judging event on 29 June 2016.
Learning Resource Centre Assistant Miss Lyons said: “We had such a great day at the Wirral Paperback of the Year author event. It was really interesting to hear the authors talk about where they get their book ideas from and what inspired them to become writers. Our students were really engaged throughout the day and they especially loved meeting the authors. We can’t wait for the final judging event in June!”
Students have until Friday 29 April to choose their top three finalists.
