The Birkenhead Park School: A School on the Up
24 September 2025
The Birkenhead Park School is celebrating a remarkable transformation, with Ofsted recognising the huge improvements taking place, record-breaking exam results, and a renewed sense of ambition across our school community.
Since 2022, BePART Educational Trust CEO Mike Kilbride MBE and Head of School Nicola McNamee have led the school’s transformation, raising expectations, establishing high standards of behaviour, and creating a culture of success. Ofsted has described The Birkenhead Park School as being on a “rapid journey of improvement” — and our students’ achievements show just how far we’ve come.
Record-Breaking Results
This summer, students achieved the best GCSE results in the school’s history:
- Top grades (7–9) doubled compared to previous years
- Over half of students achieved grade 6 or higher
- Almost a third secured grade 7 or above across a wide range of subjects
- Attendance is now among the very best in Wirral
- We are the highest-performing non-selective school for disadvantaged students, ensuring every child has the chance to thrive
More Than Just Results
Our transformation goes beyond the classroom. We have created a calm, purposeful and phone-free environment where students can focus fully on their learning. Alongside this, our students enjoy an extensive enrichment programme, with opportunities in sport, the arts, clubs, trips and leadership development — building confidence, aspiration and resilience for the future.
What Our Leaders Say
BePART Educational Trust CEO, Mike Kilbride MBE, said: “The Birkenhead Park School has been transformed. What makes me most proud is seeing students who are ambitious, focused, and thriving in a school that truly believes in them. This is a school on the up — and we are determined to keep raising standards even higher.”
Head of School, Nicola McNamee, added: “Our students, staff and families have worked together to achieve something remarkable. We now have a school community where children feel safe, supported and inspired to aim high. The progress is clear, but our ambition is even greater.”
