The transformation of The Birkenhead Park School has been recognised by Ofsted, with inspectors praising the significant improvements that have taken place across the school in recent years.
The new report provides powerful independent recognition of the school’s journey, with Ofsted declaring that “pupils’ experiences at this school have improved dramatically.”
Inspectors found a school with high expectations, respectful pupils and a strong sense of community. They also recognised the scale of the change, stating that “the actions that leaders have taken over recent years have led to marked improvements in this school.”
Mrs Dawes, Headteacher at The Birkenhead Park School, said: “We are incredibly proud that Ofsted has recognised the transformation of The Birkenhead Park School. Those of us who are here every day can see just how far the school has come, but to have inspectors recognise that pupils’ experiences have ‘improved dramatically’ is a very special moment for our whole school community.
“We have worked hard to create a school with high expectations, where young people are encouraged to be ambitious for themselves and are given the support and opportunities they need to succeed.
“Above all, we are proud to serve our local community. Our families have supported the school on this journey and placed their trust in us to provide the very best education we can for their children. This achievement belongs to our pupils, staff and families, and we hope the whole community can share in our pride.”
The report describes a school children want to attend, where pupils are “incredibly respectful towards staff and each other” and lessons are very rarely disrupted. Inspectors also found that pupils “feel safe, supported and cared for in school which contributes to them wanting to be here.”
It also reflects the school's determination to be a school where every child belongs. Inspectors found that pupils with special educational needs “attend regularly, achieve well and feel that they belong in the school community.”
Ofsted recognised a school with high expectations, describing the expectations of pupils as “extremely high” and saying that pupils now have “high aspirations and are well prepared to pursue them.”
The report also recognises a school at the heart of its community, noting that parents and carers recognise the improvements that have taken place and speak positively about how well the school communicates with them.
The report marks an important milestone for The Birkenhead Park School and provides independent recognition of a transformation that pupils, parents, staff and the local community can be proud of.
